Grandpa has tons of these growing in his yard. The Indian Pipe (Monotropa uniflora) is an interesting plant. It is indeed a plant, not a fungus. It grows not by photosynthesis, but rather, as a parasite feeding on fungi. (Of which there are plenty up here; it's been a very wet summer in Wisconsin.)
