Gardening Day

Today was an excellent day. The sky was sunny, and the temperature stayed near 70 degrees all day. It was a perfect day for gardening after church.

I had the pleasure of Luke's help all day long, and he really helped a lot! Together, we put down the pre-emergent, scooped out two wheelbarrow loads of compost from the compost bin (fine black fluffy stuff!), we tilled that into the garden, smoothed and raked the garden, planted the cold weather crops (including spinach, lettuce, broccoli, cabbage, peas, beans, radishes, beets and carrots), placed a protective fabric over the crops, planted some strawberries, unpacked and pruned the delicate Evelyn rose, planted fifteen liatris, planted two flats of pansies (72 plants), and watered everything!

I mean, we worked! And we wore ourselves out!

After dinner, we played some more Zooreka, but when Eddie won the first game, Luke headed into melt-down-land, and we ended the game. It's only a few minutes past eight o'clock, and he's already sleeping soundly.

It was a very busy day.
