They were selling them as a fund raiser. I only use the rain barrels for watering my garden, but they are at the top corner of my house, so I can water anything from them because of gravity. When I was a boy we actually had a water collector on our house at just below roof level. It was probably about 500 or 1000 gallons. It was our only water supply for the house. When it rained it filled it up and then because it was above ground level, it was gravity flow to the house.
