Glamorous L.A.

Over the weekend, I got a call from a co-worker telling me that my one day trip to Garland, Texas, was instead turning into an eight day--over the weekend--trip to El Segundo, California. El Segundo is the quaint little hamlet sitting right at the edge of the fourteen-thousand runways of LAX.

So, this will be a long trip, working late nights on a humongous proposal, cooped up in the 60 Hertz glow of florescent lighting and stale office building air. I've said it before, and I will say it again, there is no glamor in business travel.

My hotel is the Courtyard at LAX, which is a fine enough hotel--clean and with free high speed Internet and a fitness center--but it doesn't have a restaurant or bar, and all the restaurants that are within walking distance are the "order by the photo" type you find in food courts of large shopping malls.

Ahh... business travel!
