STOMP!

What a day! What a day! We took the boys downtown to see Stomp! at the Warner Theatre. I knew the boys would love this show, especially Luke, who loves rhythm. This was the boys' first big show since Monster Jam, and I have to say, this show stepped things up a notch on the coolness scale. Plus, it was nice that we weren't subjected to gasoline fumes throughout the entire show.

We had some time before the show to wander around Pennsylvania Avenue a bit, and since it was a nice day, we walked through Freedom Plaza, which is a large stone map of downtown D.C. with lots of cool quotes in the stone, like this one:

The boys were captivated with the lush luxury of the Warner Theatre. Luke and Eddie marveled at the amount of gold gilding and the massive chandelier. But when the show started, it completely captivated their attention! What a splendid show!

After the matinee show, we had dinner at Les Halles, and the experience was exceptional! The boys enjoyed the opportunity to go to a classy French brasserie, and the waitress doted on them endlessly--handsome fellows that they were, it's easy to see why.

Dinner started off with steak tartare. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's raw ground beef with anchovies, egg yolk, capers and spices, prepared at your table. I'm very proud that both boys tried it, and Eddie even liked it. Luke rated it his ubiquitous, "It's good, but it's not the best." Fair enough.

Eddie also had his own plate of escargots, and I was able to snatch two of the six of them. Then, for the main course, I had a roasted chicken with pommes frites, Becky had mussels in white wine with garlic and shallots. Eddie and Luke both had enormous cheeseburgers.

For dessert, we had to do the "I'm a tourist" thing and get the crepes Suzette. I mean, the boys will only be little for a while, and you gotta flambé while they're still young enough to still get a kick out of it. Eddie had a glorious cup of hot chocolate, which tasted like they melted the finest chocolate bars into a mug and served it. It was incredible.

All in all, it was a very good day.
